14. Terry Cashman & Baseball Songs

For the season one finale, we went out with a party. Panelists Jeremy, Ian, Hannah, Andrew, Miles, and myself brought to the table a collection of songs about baseball. It should be noted that only two of these people are actually baseball fans, but when it comes to music about America's pastime, we all agree. Our featured guest is self-proclaimed baseball maniac Terry Cashman, who is famous for his songs on this subject, which started with his 1981 smash hit "Willie, Mickey and the Duke (Talkin' Baseball)." Before that, he wrote tons of ubiquitous hits for artists like Jim Croce, the Mamas and the Papas, and the Partridge Family. Terry talks to us about his fascination with the sport, his time in the minor leagues, his famous cameo on "The Simpsons," and writing new versions of "Talkin' Baseball" for every Major League team in the country.
